This collection of essays deals with the life and work of Vere Gordon Childe (1892-1957), the eminent archaeologist, prehistorian and social theorist. It focuses particularly on his Australian background and connections, while also linking his European and Australian experiences. Included too are Childe’s own letters and reminiscences, some of them published for the first time.
